Biography

Robert Jeffress is the Senior Pastor of the 14,000-member First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas - the oldest Megachurch in the United States. Robert Jeffress regularly appears on Fox News, arguing his opposition to abortion, radical Islam, and his support for certain conservative politicians in the U.S. 

Jeffress has on multiple occasions, expressed his support for conservative policies, particularly by former U.S President Donald Trump on limiting immigration from Muslim countries, as well as his outspoken opposition and preaching against any other organised religion. On numerous occasions, Jeffress accused other faiths of “being the work of Satan”, and of being false. He has also hit out at other sects within Christianity of being cultist.

Evidence of Hate Speech/Incitement:

November 2015: During a Sunday sermon, Jeffress stated that “Islam is a false religion. And it [Islam] is inspired by Satan himself”. In further reference to the Paris terror attacks in November 2015, Jeffress added that “it is impossible to separate what these suicide bombers did from their faith, from their religion, that inspired them to do this. He added that these terrorists were acting in accordance with Islam and not against it”.

November 2015: In an interview, Jeffress states that “all false religions, including Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism are deception by Satan to lead people away from the one true God”.

February 2015: Jeffress was quoted as saying that the gay rights movement will “will pave the way for that future world dictator, the Antichrist, to persecute and martyr Christians without any repercussions whatsoever.”

October 2011: Jeffress stated that Mormonism is a cult, further adding that it was a false religion since it was invented 1800 years after the establishment of Christianity. The statement caused a stir in the U.S., particularly amongst Mormon politicians and the Mormon community.
