Biography

Yehudah Glick graduated from the Jerusalem College of Technology with a bachelor's degree in Bible Studies and a master's degree in Jewish History from Touro College. As part of his study at Hesder Yeshiva, Glick served in the Israeli Defense Forces, including the Armored Corps, and the Intelligence Corps.

Glick worked in the Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption between 1996 and 2005, however, he resigned due to the implementation of the Gaza Disengagement Plan. Following that, he worked across various radical Jewish institutions, such as the Temple Institute and Hesder Yeshiva in Otniel and the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation. Glick’s most prominent work is his current leadership of HaLiba, a coalition of groups devoted to achieving “complete freedom and civil rights for Jews on the Temple Mount”. Glick has led Jewish groups on visits to the Temple Mount and has been arrested several times while praying, walking, or recording videos there.

Glick was also a Knesset Member for the centre-right political party Likud, and served in Knesset from May 2016 to April 2019. He was also a candidate for the 2021 Israeli presidential campaign.

Evidence of Hate Speech/Incitement:

June 2021: Glick stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem in order to pray for the success of the new Israeli government, according to a live broadcast video he posted. As a result, Israeli far-right groups began calling for participation in the marches that pass along the walls of the Old City and Bab al-Amud to reach the Al-Buraq Wall. This act comes despite repeated condemnation by the Islamic Endowment Department in Jerusalem.

October 2014: Glick was accused in mid-October of causing a member of the Muslim women's guard, Ziva Badarna, 67, to fall and break her arm at the Temple Mount. Glick was denied access to the Temple Mount for two years. Allowing Glick on the site, according to Israeli authorities, was a threat to public order.
