Biography

Omar Abdel Kafy, is an Egyptian Islamic theologian, writer, professor and manager of Dubai International Holy Quran Award Islamic Studies Center. His full name is Omar Abdel kafy Shahata and he was born in 1951 in Minya, Egypt, in a conservative family with a father who was one of the notables of the “Saiid” region. He is well-known in the Arab world through the dozens of Islamic books he wrote and the hundreds of TV lectures he made since 1970.

Omar started by studying agriculture science, but his passion for the Arabic literature and religious science led him to pursue a Masters degree in comparative jurisprudence along with his PhD in Agricultural science. He was always influenced by some of the well-known Islamic preachers, such as Abi Hanifa, Ibn Taymia, Hassam Albasri, and Al Ghazali. He learned Quran Interpretation, the doctrine of science, the prophet’s biography and the Hadiths through them among others.

In 1972, he started working as an Iman and speaker in Mosques where he delivered two lectures per week for about 20 years, just before being nominated as a member of the World Body of Scientific Miracles, and The Wise Men which is part of the International Union of Islamic Researchers. He worked also as a professor in the scientific research academy, and a director of the Quranic studies in Dubai International Holy Quran Award foundation.

Omar Abdel Kafy delivered more than 1200 Jumaa speeches, and recorded more than 3000 audio-video lectures. He has also presented several TV Shows, such as “From The Treasures of Sunnah”, ”the Net Spring”, “The Real Promise”, “The Lucifer Diaries” and “Wonders Heart”. He is also a writer of dozens of books and publications like “The Hereafter”, “Interpretation of Al Bukhari Book”, “The Prophet Biography”, “The Real Promise”...etc. which became a reference for students, researchers in the Islamic and Arabic worlds.

Evidence of Hate Speech/Incitement:

July 2018: Omar Abdel Kafy wrote a post entitled “لماذا كان الشيعة اخطر من اليهود” (Why were the Shiites more dangerous than Jews) where he talks about Shiites (calling them the Shiites hypocrites) as the true enemy while citing some Quran verses. Then he compares them to the Christians and Jews saying that if we look to the Prophet’s life, we would find that they are more dangerous because they aim to destroy and corrupt Islam from inside while Christians and Jews attempts are open and clear even if they share the same intentions. He also said that “Muslims do not forget their pernicious role in loyalty to the Jews and Christians and their betrayals throughout history, in the past and present”.

July 2017: Omar Abdel Kafy posted on social media a picture of people suffering in Iraq and said “God damn you, oh God take revenge on Iran, the party of Satan, and the traitorous rejectionists in all parts of the world”.
